After 40 Years of Riding Actor George Clooney Announces He Is Officially off Motorbikes
The 58-year-old actor announced that he is “officially” done with motorcycles after he collided with a car in Italy last summer while working on the film Catch-22.
Clooney was tossed over the top of his motorbike while traveling at a high speed when another car unexpectedly pulled in front of him to make a turn. The collision sent Clooney flying roughly 20 feet in the air and required a visit to a hospital in Olbia.*
“I was very lucky to pull out of that one. That officially got me off motorbikes after 40 years, which is unfortunate,” he said in an interview on ITV’s This Morning via The Sun.
Grant Heslov who was also riding with Clooney when the crash occurred said, “He was behind me and we came up over a hill and I see a guy, who I thought was going to turn, locked eye and then he went. He just missed me and I heard this kaboom. I thought, ‘Oh my God. George is dead.’
Heslov also described the crash as bad and “much worse than the press understood.”
