China’s Christmas Gift of 140 Motorcycles to The Dominican Republic

The People’s Republic of China (PRC) Government donated 140 motorcycles, with around 15,000 spare parts and accessories for future maintenance.
The gift of motorcycles to the Dominican Republic, just before Christmas, will be assigned to the Armed Forces, the Army, the Armada, the Air Force, and the National Police.
The Chinese Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Zhang Run, donated, saying he hopes that these donated vehicles will contribute to the military and police to play their role as guarantors of the country’s security and stability.
The People’s Republic of China’s motorcycle industry exceeds that of any country in the world, with a motorcycle output of 17 million in 2019.
According to media reports and government sources, diplomatic relations established more than two years ago opened a new chapter in bilateral ties.
The same sources have stated that the PRC offered the Dominican Republic investment worth USD 3 billion, with USD 10 billion in investments promised to follow.
The PRC also pledged to support the Dominican Republic in its bid to sit on the United Nations Security Council.
There are over 200 individual companies in China that manufacture motorcycles on a national scale.
Dominican Republic Presidency Minister Lisandro Macarrulla labeled it a special day in which ties of friendship with the Chinese people are strengthened. He thanked the contribution on behalf of the Dominican people.
“The generosity of the Chinese Government has a direct impact on the strengthening of citizen security, an issue of great concern and of great interest to the Dominican Government,” said Macarrulla.
